I think everyone had a "Darrin Hudson" in their lives. Darrin Hudson was in my high school, back in Marlboro, NJ. You know, that person that you had to one-up all the time. Didn't matter what it was: Gear, hair, grades, sports, whatever...it was ON. Well for Darrin and I...it was kicks. Plain and simple. Oddly enough, in a school with over 1000 kids, me and him were the only 2 really into sneakers back then. This is my blog dedicated to Darrin. This is to tell Darrin that I'm still out there, and if he wants to battle, here it is son!! Bring it!! I've since lost touch with Darrin, but thanks to him, you all get to check out the kicks I have amassed over the years. So it is here, that I will archive every pair of shoes I own. It’ll include detailed photos, a grading system, a little tidbit behind each one and every single one will be available for purchase. (Simply POST A COMMENT with your offer). Some other little goodies sprinkled throughout also. Even if I updated a different shoe every week, it would take me about 3 years to complete this project. So sit back and enjoy! The project begins January 1st, 2006...

LOVE IS STRONG.

I wouldn't say I LOVE Chloé...restrained approval might be better. But damn...they know how to throw a bash!
I met up this evening with Asako-san from LVMH/Celux...one of our clients. She graciously invited me to attend a Chloé Party that celebrated the opening of their new flasghip store in Aoyama. The store itself was pretty non-descript as stores go in Japan. The Japanese have raised the bar so high in retail design that if you don't have 3D holograms, a time machine and the cure for cancer in your shop, it's wack. So relatively speaking...I give this store like a 2 out of 10.
The after party was kinda ill though. They made this temporary structure to house the party. It was quite "experimental". For one thing, the music was really low..which I thought was odd. Turns out, what they were doing was handing out these headphones for everyone to wear. Meanwhile they had 5 DJs playing different types of music. On the side of the headphones, you could push a button and toggle between DJ sets. So in essence, every person had a party inside their own head. Kinda interesting, but makes conversation sort of hard and everyone looks like a raver on Battlestar Gallactica.
But they made up for it in the food department. The freshest sushi, uni, eel...it was awesome. Tough to save room for our dinner meeting after the after party.

Kinda unimpressive right?

The future of partying. Lame.

Asako sporting the latest in party trends. DJ Muro and myself prefer the old school method.

Only the finest treasure from the sea for Chloé customers.

I'm mad that you got to hang with Muro. When I lived in Tokyo Muro and Twigy got me through most of my days and nights working for the man. That Microphone Pager Don't Turn Out The Lights ish is classic!
